01 · Classification

What it is

Tesamorelin is the full 44-amino-acid sequence of human GHRH with a trans-3-hexenoyl group added at the start. That change protects it from rapid breakdown by enzymes.

It has been used in clinical research on visceral fat and on the growth-hormone / IGF-1 axis.

02 · Mechanisms

What has been studied

  • GHRH receptor: stimulates the pituitary to release growth hormone in its natural pulsatile pattern.
  • IGF-1: studies measure downstream changes in insulin-like growth factor 1.
  • Adipose tissue: researched for effects on visceral fat compared with subcutaneous fat.
