GHRH analogue
What is Tesamorelin?
A stabilised analogue of full-length growth-hormone-releasing hormone, studied in GH-axis and body-composition research.
- Class
- GHRH analogue
- Also known as
- TH9507
- Type
- 44-amino-acid modified peptide
- Research stage
- Clinically studied
01 · Classification
What it is
Tesamorelin is the full 44-amino-acid sequence of human GHRH with a trans-3-hexenoyl group added at the start. That change protects it from rapid breakdown by enzymes.
It has been used in clinical research on visceral fat and on the growth-hormone / IGF-1 axis.
02 · Mechanisms
What has been studied
- GHRH receptor: stimulates the pituitary to release growth hormone in its natural pulsatile pattern.
- IGF-1: studies measure downstream changes in insulin-like growth factor 1.
- Adipose tissue: researched for effects on visceral fat compared with subcutaneous fat.
03 · Evidence
